Crystal Elixir Part One: Introduction
I’ve been soaking natural crystals in spring water in order to create my own crystal energy drinks at home. Why am I doing this? Why not?! A great part of enjoying my easy detox approach is that I encourage you to be curious, to explore and to be open minded. I’d like to share what I have been finding out about making and drinking gem crystal elixirs.
To receive any kind of energy based healing you have to be open to receiving it. If you are not receptive the beneficial energy rays will practically bounce straight off you. I’m receptive to anything that is going to be good for me, so, I thought I would give it crystal elixirs a go and see what happens. Who knows, crystal elixirs could be a missing piece in my jigsaw puzzle to great health.
Crystals are thought to help us with something we want, or something we want more of. They also hep us remove something we don’t want and want less of. They can help guard what we already have, and they can provide a barrier to anything coming our way that we really would prefer to avoid. Some crystals just amplify whatever is happening – good or bad.
Gem elixirs like this are a convenient way to use the vibrational energies of natural crystals for a form of crystal healing. At its simplest, drinking a crystal elixir is a great way to integrate the energy of the crystal into your body on a physical, mental and cellular level. Simple elixirs are easy to make and use.
I first came across the idea of crystal elixirs when I visited a gorgeous raw vegan cafe. They provided drinking water ‘free on demand’. When i got to the water station where you helped yourself to water you can imagine my surprise when I saw a large pink crystal sitting in the bottom of the jugs of spring water. I had to ask what the crystals were doing int he spring water. The crystals were in the spring water to transform it into what’s called a gem elixir, these elixirs are supposed to have health benefits. I didn’t know whether that was true or not back then, but I have to say that the spring water tasted fantastic when i drank it.
I had to find out more about the elixirs and so I’m dedicating 3 blog posts to crystal elixirs. This first crystal elixir blog is a bit about their background and history. The second crystal elixir blog is about how you make elixirs at home. The third crystal elixir blog is about the types of crystals to use and includes simple recipes for you to try at home.
Crystal Elixirs: Background and history
GemStones and Crystals have been used in jewellery, in protection, as amulets, as decoration, for divination, for symbolism, in grid work and also in health and in healing. From what I can see natural crystals and stones have been used like this since records began.
To me crystals are beautiful and mystical but I am really most interested in their health boosting potential. Obviously you should seek professional advice if you don’t feel well, crystal elixirs are not meant to replace any medications that you may need to take for medical reasons. But if your health is okay and you choose your elixir wisely then why not?
An early cuneiform tablet (that’s about the earliest known Sumaraian type writing that we are aware of) gives a list of natural stones to use to facilitate things like conception and birth. Also for inducing love and hate.
Much of the traditional gem lore that has survived was passed down from generation to generation in records on precious stones (known as treatises) called lapidaries, from what I can see these were essentially medicinal in nature too.
The lapidaries of these stones and crystals grouped them into families and also there was details about the stone, what it looked like and also some kind of action that was attributed to them through years of observation.
Using x-ray diffraction, modern scientists can now see the internal structure of crystals that our ancestors could not see when they were creating lapidaries. This internal structure of the crystals that these modern scientists have observed, creates a kind of energy conduit in the form of a lattice. Different crystal lattices produce individual energy transportation routes. The lattices will affect the energy as it moves along them too of course. The atoms in the crystals and stone seem to form specific energy conduits depending upon how they are arranged. The study of these atomic structures, these lattices in crystals, is called crystallography and it is used by materials scientists to characterise different materials.
In mineralogy and crystallography, a crystal structure is a unique arrangement of atoms in a crystal. A crystal structure is composed of a unit cell, this unit cell is a set of atoms arranged in a particular way; which is periodically repeated in three dimensions on a lattice. Scientists have observed and now categorised the 7 different internal crystal structures that all crystals belong to.
All crystals form into one of these seven crystal systems: triclinic, monoclinic, orthorhombic, tetragonal, trigonal, hexagonal, and cubic. It’s fabulous that science has supported the knowledge of our ancestors yet again!
I believe it is the composition, structure, proportion, shape, size, colour and type of crystal or stone, that enable or inhibit the specific energy streams that run through the lattice arrangement. This is what creates the crystal’s nature and how it facilitates changes in energy fields that bring about the transformation that has been observed.
A crystal cannot generate its own energy though, it connects to external energies. A crystal resonates best when it is aligned to the Earth’s electromagnetic field, and, when a crystal makes an uninterrupted connection to the earth energies they stream naturally through it’s lattice.
So, the potential of a crystal to transform things around it is the affect it has on energy as that energy sails along the crystal’s lattice streams. It makes sense to me that we should try and connect with and benefit from crystals in some ways.
I actually like to take this a stage further too. I believe that there is a type of consciousness that is in rocks and crystals, you may not agree, but I feel that to work with crystals you need to connect with this Diva consciousness at the heart of the crystal so you can intend the crystal for specific types of healing or energy work. Once you connect to the Diva in the rock you will establish a relationship with the crystal or stone and it will work even more effectively. By the way when you pick up a crystal and you feel it is talking to you I believe you are connecting to the Diva consciousness in the crystal.
As I said before, crystals do not generate their own energy, they connect to the energy around them, they pulse or vibrate with the energy they receive from an external source, a source that they resonate with. Ideally the crystal picks up the Earth’s electromagnetic field as the resonant source. Unfortunately, though, crystals sometimes connect to other energy sources instead. If you intend to do healing work with a crystal and it has connected to something you don’t want the crystal to connect to then you have to clear that energy connection and realign the crystal to a different energy source. Some people call this programming a crystal but I prefer the term realignment as that explains more clearly what you are trying to do.
Crystals are electromagnetic oscillators, an oscillator is something that releases regular pulses of energy, or something that moves back and forth in response to energy. Energy goes into the lattice grid and is output again transformed after it has travelled through the crystal’s lattice grid.
In his fabulous book, ‘Crystal grids, How to combine and focus crystals energies to enhance your life’ Henry Mason describes working with crystals in grid layouts. If you are interested in crystals and combining them into grids then do have a read of this great book.
Once you can understand the potential transformational capability of the energy lattices you will have a better understanding of which types of crystals to use, you’ll be able to select them more confidently and, I hope, get more predictable results.
One you connect to the Diva at the heart of the crystal you will establish a relationship with the crystal or stone and you can work together to really transform things – with love and grace….
I hope you have enjoyed this introduction to crystal elixirs. I’m dedicating 3 blog posts to crystal elixirs. This first crystal elixir blog is a bit about their background and history.
